UN to vote on adopting new world map that shows Africa's true scale
The UN General Assembly will vote on a resolution to replace the traditional Mercator map projection with a more accurate representation that correctly shows Africa's true size. The Mercator projection has long distorted Africa's scale, making it appear similar in size to Greenland when it is actually significantly larger. Togo is sponsoring the resolution with support from the African Union and its 54 member states.
