British army cancels training in Kenya amid row over powers to prosecute soldiers

The British army has cancelled a September training exercise in Kenya after the Kenyan government refused to ratify a bilateral defence agreement. Kenya sought changes to the agreement that would grant local authorities greater powers to prosecute British soldiers for crimes committed in the country, while the UK wanted to simply renew the existing terms.
