Japan earthquake strikes Kumamoto region

A 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Japan's Kumamoto prefecture on the southern Kyushu island, injuring at least 50 people and trapping many others in a partially collapsed shopping mall. The powerful quake caused widespread damage to infrastructure including roads, bridges, and buildings, while also cutting power to thousands of homes. Deaths are expected as rescue efforts continue at the affected locations.
