Director Neill Blomkamp has launched a new AI production company called Barley Studios and released a 13-minute sci-fi short film called Nightborne, loosely based on Peter Watts' novel Echopraxia. The project features AI-generated characters with voices and faces modeled after human actors. However, critics have dismissed the work as uninspired AI-generated content lacking originality.
