Amazon plans global satellite cellphone network by 2028
Amazon has filed an FCC application to launch a new Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation consisting of 5,105 satellites designed to provide direct-to-device satellite services for voice, messaging, data, and emergency services globally. If approved, Amazon plans to begin deploying the constellation in 2028 and will partner with mobile network operators to deliver these services to consumers.
