New Yorkers will soon need to verify their age to access algorithmic feeds

New York has finalized rules requiring residents to verify their age before accessing algorithmic feeds on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, as well as to receive notifications after midnight. The requirement is part of the implementation of the SAFE for Kids Act, signed into law by New York Attorney General Letitia James. This represents a significant regulatory effort to protect minors from personalized content delivery and late-night engagement on social platforms.
