Australia fuel excise cut ends as regulator monitors service stations

Australia's fuel excise cut, which was implemented following the Iran conflict outbreak, has ended at midnight Monday. Treasurer Chalmers has directed the consumer watchdog (ACCC) to intensively monitor service stations for price gouging, with increased penalties including multimillion-dollar fines for illegal pricing practices.
