Amazon plans global satellite cellphone network launch in 2028
Amazon has filed an FCC application to launch a global satellite cellphone network consisting of 5,105 satellites, with deployment expected to begin in 2028. The service will provide direct-to-device connectivity for voice, messaging, data, and emergency services, and Amazon plans to partner with existing mobile network operators to deliver the service.
