Warm Yellow Sea strengthens storms in South Korea

South Korea is preparing for severe weather as heavy rainfall exceeding 200mm is forecast for central and northern regions this week. Intense thunderstorms developing over the abnormally warm Yellow Sea—currently 4°C above average at 29°C—are being strengthened and will push eastward through Monday before subsiding. Prime Minister Han Seong-sook is coordinating emergency preparations following earlier destructive storms that impacted the country.
